...After that, well, the trip dragged on and I’s getting more and more down till the big day hit and I woke up in Nowhere, Kansas, alone and wishing for any damned piece of ass and then thinking of calling some high class call girl, cuz what the hell, it’s my birthday, right? And Mary Louise called me in the morning and told me she had presents for me and talked dirty to me, and that cheered me up for an hour or two. Then I called her in the afternoon, just to hear her voice and have her remind me it was my birthday. Told her I’d be staying at the same truck stop I always go to about an hour out of Memphis.

...It’as getting to be a long time they’re out there in the dark. And every now and then I heard these little giggles and some carrying on. And while they’re outside I didn’t know whether to make myself at home, go find the couch and sleep, watch some TV, find me another beer, or what to do exactly. Just as I was thinking that, John called my name. "C’mere," he’as saying. I was a little afraid to what I might see. "Randy, I need some help out here," he said again. He almost sounded like he was in trouble.
When I got out the door they was both on this deck he built, really nice wood deck that goes halfway out over the yard.

They also like the solidarity of going global. As bike ride organizers in Ashville North Carolina have said, "The World Naked Bike Ride is being organized democratically through e-mail discussion lists distributed around the world." This hodge-podge, decentralized approach seems to be working. People will be riding naked through the streets of London, Montreal, Apeldoorn (Netherlands), and through American cities like Portland, Oregon; Chicago, Illinois; San Francisco, L.A., and Berkeley, California. (The latter is probably the only town in America where you’re more likely to find the citizens protesting than shopping).
